Online Psychiatry in English

Psychiatric assessment, therapy and medication follow-up by secure video — wherever you are.

Short Answer

Dr. Ömer Orhun Ercan offers online psychiatric consultations in English via secure video, for patients across Turkey and abroad. Online sessions cover assessment, psychotherapy and medication follow-up, with the same structure and confidentiality as in-person appointments at the Güzelbahçe, İzmir clinic. Booking works the same way: call or WhatsApp +90 537 053 65 36 and mention you'd like an English-language online session.

Who Online Sessions Are For

  • English speakers elsewhere in Turkey, away from İzmir
  • Expats and internationals who travel frequently
  • People abroad planning a move to Turkey
  • Former İzmir residents continuing their treatment
  • Busy professionals who cannot reach Güzelbahçe regularly
  • Follow-up appointments between in-person visits
  • People who feel more comfortable starting from home
  • Remote workers and digital nomads on the Aegean coast

How It Works

1. Book a Time

Call or WhatsApp +90 537 053 65 36, or use the appointment form. Mention that you would like an online session in English.

2. Join the Video Call

You receive a secure video link before your appointment. A quiet, private spot and a stable connection are all you need.

3. Continue Your Care

Assessment, therapy and follow-up proceed like in-person care — with a clear plan and full doctor-patient confidentiality.

Where Online Has Limits

Online psychiatry is a genuinely useful format, but it is not right for everything. For most first evaluations an in-person meeting is preferred when feasible, and some situations — acute crises, conditions requiring physical examination, and certain medications that legally require in-person prescribing in Turkey — need the clinic. If that applies to you, you will hear it clearly rather than being sold a video call.

The clinic is in Güzelbahçe, on İzmir's western coast — around 25–35 minutes by car from central districts, with free parking. Many patients combine an initial in-person assessment with online follow-ups.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do online sessions work?

After you book by phone or WhatsApp, you receive a secure video link for your appointment time. You join from a private, quiet place with a stable internet connection — a laptop or phone is enough. Sessions follow the same structure as in-person appointments: 75 minutes for an initial assessment, 45 minutes for therapy, 30 minutes for follow-up.

Is online psychiatry as effective as in-person care?

For many situations — depression, anxiety, follow-up appointments, therapy sessions — research supports video consultations as a genuinely useful format, not a compromise. For some conditions and for most first evaluations, an initial in-person meeting is preferred when feasible; Dr. Ercan will tell you honestly if your situation is one where in-person care matters.

Can you prescribe medication after an online session?

Medication decisions are made with the same care online as in person. Prescription rules depend on your location and the medication involved — some medications in Turkey require an in-person examination or a Turkish national health record. This is discussed openly during the session so you know exactly what is possible in your situation.

I live abroad. Can I still book?

Yes. Online consultations in English are available internationally — many patients connect from Europe and elsewhere, including people planning a move to Turkey and former İzmir residents continuing their treatment. Time-zone differences are usually easy to accommodate within clinic hours (10:00–20:00 Turkey time, Monday to Saturday).

Is the video connection private?

Sessions take place over a secure video service, one-to-one, and are not recorded. Everything you discuss is protected by doctor-patient confidentiality, exactly as in the clinic.
